Ahh the perfectly creamy shake. We know them, we love them… but sometimes we just can’t make them. Am I right? It’s almost like a perfected skill required to make the perfectly, creamy, frothy, shake.
We’ve all been there– making shakes that seem more like an Icee and some that are so thin you might as well drink milk, right? Today, I’m here to give you my top 4 tips to make the perfectly creamy shake.
- Use a thickening agent like natural nut butter or my new favorite 1/4 of an avocado. Before you get grossed out, let me assure you, you do not taste the avocado! And no, it did not turn my chocolate shake green. It just helps to thicken the shake and give it that frosty consistency.
- Use a thicker liquid versus water. If you can do dairy, a little milk will do the trick. Personally, I recommend an unsweetened nut milk like almond or cashew milk. Be sure to get the unsweetened version. I use 1 cup of unsweetened almond milk in my shakes as my liquid and this seems to be the perfect ratio!
- Just the right amount of ice. Too much ice will give you an Icee consistency, too little will leave you with a very liquid-y shake. I usually do around a cup of ice cubs to start, and add in little by little as my shake is blending until I feel like I’ve achieved the perfect consistency. Try it!
- Frozen banana helps to thicken the shake and perfect the consistency. You’ll be pleasantly surprised by this trick- not to mention it adds great flavor!
I hope these tricks help you perfect your shake experience. I know they help mine!
